A merry-go-round that will never turn again. A rusty Ferris wheel that merely creaks as its blown by the wind In the hopes of discovering such ephemeral but picturesque park equipment, I journeyed to abandoned amusement parks located throughout parts of Japan, from Hokkaido to Kyoto, Shiga, Nara, down to Fukuoka, compiling this bittersweet photo album application. An abandoned amusement park - one could not feel anything else but a sense of desolation. But only a short period ago, this was a place which put smiles on the faces of children and offered lovers a moment of bliss If you look closely and listen carefully, you can almost sense those warm memories still alive in the equipment as you walk quietly along the park grounds. But perhaps such a feeling is only an illusion. Perhaps all that the equipment desire now is to be left in peace with its surrounding nature. Perhaps they continue to harbor resentment towards the cold world that we have created. Though we may never know the truth, these pictures will always be conveying a message. Whether that message is one of nostalgia, melancholy, or a tale of caution to our modern civilization? Why dont you take a peek into the abandoned amusement park to find out for yourself?
