SMB Video is an application for accessing and playing video files on network file servers that support the SMB protocol. SMB (also called CIFS) is the native network file sharing protocol of Microsoft Windows. Mac OS X 10.1 and later and most Linux distributions support it. SMB is also supported on a variety of other systems, including many network file storage appliances.SMB Video can play device compatible video formats, including many MPEG4 (MP4, M4V), Quicktime (MOV) and 3GPP (3GP, 3G2) format video files.Refer to your device specifications for a list of compatible formats.SMB Video significantly extends the capability of your device by providing access to video libraries that are external to iTunes.
