Ever wonder how TechRepublic cracks open the latest tech gadgets? Bill Detwiler gives you a behind-the-scenes look at our TR Dojo teardown process. Once you’ve watched this TR Dojo video, you can find a link to the original TechRepublic article and print the tip from our TR Dojo Blog.
Who are you and what have you done with the -REAL- Bill Detwiler!!?! Just kidding... Thanks for the behind the scenes look. Is it possible to get your IT Dojo server room background for a Desktop Background?
I would like to see what went wrong with your iphone tear down, so 'i don't go down the same road', really. Also, thanx for the video.
All our iPhone teardowns have gone well. Most of the iPod Touch teardowns have not. The most common problem we ran into was opening the case without damaging the LCD display or cracking the front glass panel (digitizer). If you're going to open an iPod Touch, you'll need to use a heat gun or hair dryer to loose the very strong adhesive that holds the display/digitizer assembly in place. I also recommend a plastic case opening tool (available online) to avoid damaging the LCD. A lot of patience also helps.
