3Com Switch 7700 Elevates Academics of Leading Korean University
Source: 3Com
Located in the seaport city of Incheon, the first Korean city to open to westerners, Inha University today is incorporating western-style education into its curriculum. Previously, Inha relied on an ATM network consisting of equipment from a hodgepodge of vendors, including Cisco, Enterasys, Nortel, and 3Com. Although Inha used Gigabit Ethernet links in pockets of the 20-building, 10,000-node infrastructure, the LAN was unable to efficiently deliver the high-bandwidth files the school's academic programs required. After witnessing a demonstration of the Switch 7700 and comparing it with competing Enterasys and Nortel products, Inha University chose the feature-rich Gigabit Ethernet switch as the backbone of its network upgrade.
