A Framework for Revitalizing Undergraduate Computer Science
Source: University of Detroit Mercy
Despite the great demand for computing, undergraduate computing programs are losing their appeal. Many believe this is a direct consequence of off-shoring and outsourcing of information technology jobs. The risks of off-shoring and outsourcing have been exaggerated. No one can deny the impact of these risks. However, the main problem lies within Computer Science programs themselves. These programs fail to digest the fact that computing is for everybody and not merely for Computer Science graduates. The current programs vary in the degree of isolating themselves from national and global economic, political, technological, social, and legal changes.
