A Miniaturized Mote for Wireless Sensor Networks
Source: Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology
Ever since the ubiquitous wireless sensor network was introduced, various types of wireless sensor network nodes, called motes, including weC, Rene, Mica, Mica2, MicaZ, iMote, and so on were developed. The motes were modified and evolved to meet requirements for a wide variety of wireless sensor network applications ranging from habitat monitoring to medical applications. Important attributes of motes that require special attention for design are low cost, low power, small size, and flexibility. The primary advantage of a System on a Chip (SoC) technology is reduction in unit cost, size, and power dissipation along with performance improvement.
