A Novel Multi-Layer Framework for Modeling the Evolution of Spectrum Markets and Cognitive-Radio Devices

This paper presents a novel multi-layer modeling framework for the evolution of spectrum markets of multiple spectrum/network operators that provide wireless access to users. It integrates models of the channel, mobility, user preference, network operators (providers), infrastructure deployment, user distribution, and price-adaptation mechanisms. Providers aim to maximize their own profit, while clients decide based on criteria, such as the financial cost of the access, transmission rate, and required transmission power. This paper gives a brief description of the modeling framework and a novel price-adaptation algorithm for providers.
