A Perspective on ELearning in the K-12 Classroom

In the traditional classroom, teachers control the content, delivery, and processes students go through in learning a topic. However within the last decade, emerging technologies have begun a paradigm shift in the way teachers instruct their students, increasingly utilizing technology to meet the needs of their students to prepare them with the 21st century skills necessary to compete in the global economy. e-Learning plays a significant role in this change, but requires a shift from the traditional classroom and roles to a classroom environment where teachers and students play both the role of learner and student alike. This paper reviews some of the factors involved in creating this paradigm shift to a classroom fully integrated with technology and e-Learning.
