A Secure IT Service for the People - Thanks to PKI With Hardware Security Module

Founded in 1962, InfoKom is the IT solution provider of Landschaftsverb and Rheinland provides modern IT services for the entire association as well as other clients. Operating 120 web servers and around 8,000 PCs as well as connecting several hundred homeworkers pose IT security challenges to Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR). That is why the association of Rhine cities and municipalities secures its entire IT and web applications with a new public key infrastructure (PKI) in conjunction with the hardware security module (HSM) SafeGuard CryptoServer from Utimaco. InfoKom started using what was by today's standards a rudimentary public key infrastructure (PKI) based on Windows 2000 for the SSL encryption of various web applications.
