Accelerated Process Development and Execution in Large IP Service and Network Migration Programs
Migrating customers to next-generation IP-based network and services is a "Daedalian" project spanning several years. The complexity, cost, and time-critical nature of such a project demand detailed planning and strong, industrialized processes. Ensuring flawless execution requires in-depth knowledge of the steps involved, the supporting infrastructure, and the operational interdependencies. In short, thorough understanding of every aspect of the migration is vital if the objectives are to be met. This paper outlines the distinct challenges of designing processes to execute migration of services to a next-generation IP network. It characterizes the key issues and provides innovative solutions in addressing them with supporting tools and techniques in advanced process engineering.
