ACOs and other alternate care delivery approaches depend on secure, shared access to comprehensive, timely, accurate clinical information. As such, they require ministries of health, healthcare systems, and other organizations to architect and design new information infrastructure that can deliver the right data to the right stakeholders in ways that improve clinical outcomes and lower the cost of care. For more than a decade, Intel has worked with healthcare leaders around the world to design and deploy robust healthcare IT (HIT) solutions, and we continue to do so. This paper outlines key concepts and capabilities we see as important to the discussion of ACOs and other efforts at coordinated patient care and payment reform.
