Accuracy of the IT Guru Wireless Model

A study is made of the implementation of the IEEE 802.11 2007 standard in the wireless LAN model of the IT Guru Academic Edition Software. It is shown that although the software can provide the basic functionality of simulating a network, it fails to provide the functionality necessary to truly simulate the unique aspects of a wireless network. The implementation of wireless technologies in the last decade has been truly remarkable. Not only has there been an explosion in the use of cellular technologies, but wireless internet access, which was once quite rare, has now become a commodity.
