Ajax (which stands for asynchronous JavaScript and XHTML) is not a technology per se, but rather a design approach for Web applications. Ajax improves the user's Web application experience while retaining the benefits of transparent deployments and immediate availability of application updates for all users. It mixes a set of proven techniques available to most browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) and Mozilla Firefox.
