Altiris Notification Server - Inventory Forwarding
Source: Altiris
This white paper is intended to cover the details surrounding how the Inventory Forwarding feature functions inside of the Altiris Notification Server platform. Inventory forwarding is the process of copying inventory data from one or more source (managing) Notification Server's to a destination Notification Server, also known as a reporting or roll-up server. Once both Notification Servers are configured and scheduled to perform their respective roles, the process begins. A complete cycle to populate complete data on the destination Notification Server involves forwarding, data replication, and verification. The combination of these processes can be potentially time-consuming, depending on the existing load of the Notification Servers involved.
