VANETs have the ability to transmit various types of information between a vehicle and another, or between a vehicle and a fixed station. However, transmission may be impaired due to long delays, quantity of collisions and signal noise. This is caused, in part, by abrupt changes in the network topology. Thus, in order to maintain the quality and stability of the network, a mechanism is proposed for the vehicle to self-adapt dynamically according to the context. For this purpose, MAC layer parameters must be changed, allowing better control of access to the medium.
