An Advance in Wireless Broadband Communications Based on a WiMAX-HAPS Architecture
Source: American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
This paper summarizes the evaluation of the synergy of a WiMAX-High Altitude Platforms (HAPs) system at S-band for a low-cost fast-availability deployment in supplying broadband wireless communications services in a dynamic environment and enhancement of terrestrial telecommunications. The performance task is progressed relying on the basis of the IEEE 802.16-2004 Std and multicarrier Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) PHY-layer scheme. The performance study is adapted to the link between the assumed stationary stratospheric platform radio-access technology and the civil urban stationary (fixed and nomadic) user terminal in ground in order to have a suitable and efficient broadband wireless communications basic network.
