Assessment and Remediation of Vulnerabilities in the SCADA and Process Control Systems of Utilities
Source: Internet Security Systems
Most SCADA and Process Control Systems being used by today's utility companies were developed years ago, long before public and private networks or desktop computing were a common part of business operations. As a result, the need for online security measures within these systems was not anticipated. At the time, good security for SCADA systems meant limiting and securing the physical access to the network and the consoles that controlled the systems. This paper reviews the proven methodology and comprehensive approach that the Vulnerability and Threat Analysis teams of Internet Security Systems recommend for fully assessing the vulnerabilities of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and Process Control Systems.
