The ease and convenience of wireless networking has inevitably altered the networking landscape. Wireless has become a necessary part of many enterprise networks, no longer simply on the fringes providing temporary services to vendors and guests. For many industries, wireless networking has become an essential component of the enterprise's success. In hospitals, doctors roam between patient rooms and labs with laptops and other mobile devices; manufacturing facilities rely on wireless for inventory management; and a host of other industries are becoming increasingly dependent on wireless for a major part of their day-to-day operations. For network managers, the proliferation of wireless has added another dimension to the ubiquitous challenge of performance management.
