Information technology has now proliferated into small-scale enterprises and noncommercial organizations like educational institutes. These organizations often do not have elaborate network management policies in place. This may make their networks vulnerable to performance deterioration when the demand increases. In this paper, a management framework has been developed for such organizations to facilitate the auditing of their campus networks using a simple network management tool. Against the proposed framework, the local area network (LAN) of a premier Indian educational institute has been considered as a case site. Network base lining for the case site has been done with the use of a simple network manager having RMON (Remote Monitoring) facilities.
