Austrian Government Outsourced Technology Management

In order to provide its citizens with a more responsive government, the Austrian legislature enacted the Administrative Reform Act. The legislation placed more authority into the hands of regional and municipal authorities, allowing them to offer "one-stop shopping" for a variety of government services - from regulating industrial emissions to overseeing hiring practices. HP began by refreshing and standardizing the technology infrastructure throughout the department. First, HP replaced the Ministry's inventory of PCs, printers, monitors and mobile devices with state-of-the-art equipment and upgraded its data-center servers. Next, HP ensured operating systems throughout the Ministry were standardized, including its messaging system and all Local-Area Networks (LANs).
