Barriers to Performance Improvement

Source: Better Management.com

Organizations begin performance management initiatives at any point - for example, one may begin with defining the corporate strategy and determining KPIs to support it. Others will initiate a business intelligence or data warehousing project. For many executives, a scorecard without business intelligence behind it is their first step. To achieve the best results, however, every phase - reporting, management, and improvement should be done comprehensively. For example, if a business is reporting on its global financials, but doesn't take currency rate fluctuations into consideration, it is not seeing the whole picture.
