A significant change is taking place in the installed base of SAP systems. While many customers continue to run versions of SAP R/3 software, others have begun to migrate to the new SAP NetWeaver platforms. Migrations to the new versions of SAP software require converting the application environment as well as evaluating and upgrading the servers and storage infrastructure used to deploy the SAP system. This paper provides users of medium-scale, enterprise-class systems running Windows Server and Oracle with best practices for effectively configuring and productively deploying SAP NetWeaver with SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), using a sales and distribution ERP workload, onto an HP Integrity server and a Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure.
