Blowfish Encryption/Decryption Using FPGA and Custom Instructions

Data Encryption Standard (DES) encryption has been commercially available for many years. One of the challenging tasks with DES is the construction of S-Boxes, which require intensive computations. The approach offers some insights into the use of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and custom hardware instructions to decipher coded DES messages. The authors are presenting such an approach using FPGA custom-based instructions to encode/decode messages with parallel processing on a heterogeneous FPGA cluster. The target application is the Blowfish Algorithm.
