BMC Software Case Study: Embarq

In July 2009, Embarq joined forces with CenturyTel to create one of the leading communications companies in the US. The new venture serves more than two million customers, providing a broad range of communication services, including long-distance service, wireless service, high-speed data service, and satellite TV service. The program manager of the Embarq Automation Services department, is responsible, in short, for automation. He is tasked with searching the company for opportunities to automate any cumbersome, manual tasks - in billing systems, in the monitoring tools, the help desk, etc. - that are slowing down customers, employees, and contractors. In early 2008, Case's team began looking at multiple vendors to help the company automate, and, after a lengthy process, the team selected BMC Atrium Orchestrator.
