UK law firm Addleshaw Goddard, with three offices in London, Leeds and Manchester, has about 1,500 staff members, including 182 partners and over 500 other fee earners. The law firm is ranked 15th in the country according to fee income and sixth by the number of FTSE 100 Clients. Half of the firm's staff uses BlackBerry smartphones today and the company had over 800 users who run the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Prior to providing Blackberry smartphones, the firm tried other solutions. But the staff was not happy and they wanted a more intuitive solution. With their large user base, decision makers of the company realized that the BlackBerry solution was the right platform for the firm. It would help them to implement more business-enhancement tools that would lead to increased productivity, client service, ROI and income. One of the major developments the law firm undertook with BlackBerry phones was the inclusion of a CRM system that would allow users to look up contact details from their BlackBerry smartphones and access their central phone directory with ease. One business challenge that arose with the Blackberry solution was that that they needed to capture chargeable time accurately as they worked out of office most of the time. Towards this end the firm has started to deploy its BlackBerry time-recording solution. This is an application that was developed internally and fully integrates with all Blackberry systems.
