Source: Mainline Information Systems
Boston University (BU), situated on the Charles River, is a major private urban research university. As BU has grown larger and more complex, it has continued to face not only resource limits, but also the challenges of the urban environment, especially as they relate to connecting a dispersed student body and serving the diverse needs of students. They brought together a work group that included SAP; Mainline Information System. Boston University asked Mainline to submit a proposal that would meet its requirements. Mainline responded with a configuration that consisted of a combination of IBM Power 7 servers and IBM XIV for SAP for a high-end, open disk storage system using fully virtualized grid architecture. It provides greater scalability security and flexibility which lowered TCO.
