Can Cloud Computing Ever Replace Traditional Desktop Computing?
Source: Bowie State University
Cloud computing is a new and exciting technology that is more evolutionary in design than revolutionary. Broken down to its fundamental features, cloud computing is the movement from individual business' dedicated facilities into a virtualized environment that is hosted across multiple shared data centers connected via the internet, allowing processing and storage to grow and shrink dynamically based upon demand. This new environment offers tremendous advantages in areas such as scalability and efficiency. However, other areas such as security and legal aspects leave some wondering if cloud computing is truly ready for serious consideration.
