Capacity Scaling Laws of Information Dissemination Modalities in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

Gupta and Kumar studied the capacity of wireless ad hoc networks for the case of multi-pair unicasts in which the nodes are able to encode and decode at most one packet at a time. This paper has motivated a large body of work over the past few years. One important area of the resulting research has focused on the study of different approaches to "Embrace interference" in order to increase the capacity of wireless ad hoc networks. Embracing interference consists of increasing the concurrency with which the channel is accessed.
