Characteristic Analysis of VOIP Traffic for Wireless Network
Source: RIMT - Institute of Engineering & Technology
A traditional Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technique is based on client/server architecture. In this paper, the authors present VoIP architecture for Ad-hoc network based on H.323 Standard that provides users to communicate with each other. Their work is divided into two parts: one to demonstrate a simple VOIP scenario and second to analyze the characteristics of the traffic with respect to the call established between two VOIP users. They use QualNet simulator as their performance analysis platform. Various evaluation parameters include the time between 1st and last packet, no of packets, Avg packet size, throughput, end to end delay and throughput of the simulated scenario. The obtained results are discussed to highlight the impact of VOIP in ad-hoc networks.
