City of Heemskerk Improves Data Availability, Scalability, and Security
The City of Heemskerk is a medium-sized municipality located in the center of The Netherlands' province of North Holland. This area, which was originally agricultural and is located in the triangle between Amsterdam, Haarlem, and Alkmaar, was among the fastest-growing municipalities in the Netherlands in the 1960s. It needed to comply with government directives to expand the variety of information and services available 24/7 to citizens and avoid unscheduled downtime for critical applications that serve the public. City of Heemskerk implemented Oracle Real Application Clusters on Linux to enable 24/7 availability, greater flexibility, and scalability of critical applications including those that can be accessed by citizens.
