Collaboration Versus Communication: Selecting the Appropriate Tool

Because communication may include both one-way communication with a passive recipient and two-way communication requiring active feedback, it is difficult to speak to general features that will support communication. Instead, frequent advice for selecting the best communication tool is that the selector must consider the situation and the message. More simply, the communication option selected "will depend on what people want to accomplish and what they and the clients find comfortable." Additionally, the availability of financial resources for obtaining and maintaining the communication tool should be considered.
