CoreTrace Solution Series: SCADA

SCADA systems are controlling critical parts of the nation's infrastructure such as oil, gas, and water pipelines. Originally developed on very specialized equipment, many SCADA systems remain highly specialized from a control standpoint, but are now run on general -purpose operating systems. With this change, the operating systems must be protected against malware, viruses, and other forms of exploitation. In addition, once part of a private network, some of those systems are now accessible through the company's data network and even sometimes the larger Internet. This paper describes the SCADA environment, includes a short description of the Bouncer by CoreTrace product, and describes some of the unique challenges that can be met using this product.
