The Topeka Water Division is the municipal drinking water system for the City of Topeka, Kansas. Solely supported by revenue from the sale of water to 55,000 customers, the division relies on the Kansas River as the source for drinking water for the city and many surrounding communities. Topeka Water Division wanted to reduce staff without compromising operations and meet water quality reporting regulations. They wanted to be prepared for eventual Homeland Security requirements. The company centralized control of operations and communicated with field-based controllers without separate network connections.
