After the success of its 'Environmental Crime' London Borough of Lewisham decided to come up with LoveCleanStreets, a new free online portal that would allow Londoners to report on the areas affected by graffiti or litter or bring out the positive points about their local environment. The website was designed in the manner in which it could allow access to anyone to see all the photographs and complaints as posted by people from some community. It would also allow them to track the actions of local councils in any particular case reported. The main motive of the website was to make people responsible about their surrounding by giving them the power to improve their immediate environment. The makers of the website, London Borough of Lewisham decided to improve the website and wanted to make use of a technology that could allow them show reports in real time. This case study discusses an interactive map technology that was formed using the latest Microsoft Silverlight browser plug-in and Bing Maps for Enterprise that would allow reports to show in real time. Microsoft Certified partner bbits also integrated this solution with local authority citizen relationship management systems using the Microsoft .NET Frameworks. After applying this technology to the website the citizens complaints about the Graffiti fell by around 30Per Cent, it became easy for the citizens and the staff to complaint about the 'Grot Spots' complaints, and better attention to the cases was being paid by the councils.
