Creating a Customer-Focused, Agile Airline
Source: BEA Systems
British Airways is one of the world's largest international airlines. At the time it was revolutionary, but it was based on proprietary technology, it was difficult to scale and it lacked robust links to other systems, such as the British Airways Executive Club loyalty program and other customer databases. It was at this point that British Airways made a decision that was to have a profound impact on its future eCommerce strategy. They needed an open, industrial-strength application infrastructure to replace the proprietary system. British Airways has deployed BEA WebLogic Server, BEA WebLogic Workshop, and BEA WebLogic JRockit to create a standards-based architecture for developing, integrating, securing and managing its distributed Java-based eCommerce system.
