Oracle applications make use of a portal as the user interface so that users are able to access data available in the Oracle Database. Applications are customized for each user according to the data access layer being accessed or the geography they are coming for. Not so in the case of the data provider for .NET (ODP.NET). The ODP .NET can be used to build an application that allows the customization of data by selecting the language and format of date and numeric data. The Oracle database is questioned by this application on the basis of user input in order to present the data that is arranged according to user-defined factors. Options available with user-interface include setting the language, territory, date format, and option for case-sensitive search. Various procedures for building the application include creating a Visual Studio solution, lay out of the Web form items, configuration of data sources, and implementation of application using the built-in Web server. Divided into various sections, this paper has a section that talks about the steps that help in creating the solution. The ASP .NET 2.0 application with ODP .NET mentioned here can be easily and quickly build according to the preference for language and formatting of date and numeric data that is stored in Oracle Database. The use of ODP .NET increases developer productivity and makes it easier to manage the application's codes since it makes use of a single set of code that works for all locales.
