Customs Organisation Improves Customer Service With Standardised IT Environment
Source: Microsoft
Finnish Customs regulates Finland's internal and external trade in the European Union. In 2005, the organisation employed 2,600 people and collected ¬2.5 billion (U.S.$3.5 billion) in taxes and charges. That year, the organisation decided to upgrade from its existing Applix database server and IT environment. Finnish Customs examined a number of solutions, including open-source alternatives, and found that Microsoft best matched its requirements for interoperability, security, and ease of use. Microsoft met daily with the IT team to create the best solution for its needs, and got 400 employees to test it. Microsoft Gold Certified Partner TietoEnator continued with the deployment, which is due for completion by the end of 2007.
