Data Center Management: Managing Data Center Change for Optimization and Risk Reduction
Source: Unisys
Unisys understands today's data center challenges. Infrastructure complexity is escalating at an unprecedented rate as a result of increase in managed devices, composite applications, security threats and data center compliance requirements. Additionally, organizations are looking to do more with less as IT-related operational expenditure skyrockets. The need for increased productivity and improved resource efficiency is paramount. In today's data center, cost dynamic is shifting from one of being capital expenditure intensive, to one driven by operational expenditure. Operational expenditure accounts for approximately 70 percent of data center costs, and configuration management activities constitute a major portion of this figure. The current model of manual-driven configuration activities does not support trying to maintain highly available business-critical applications, a vigilant security practice, and adhering to compliance activities across operational and regulatory initiatives.
