Data Protection and Disaster Recovery of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and Microsoft Windows Vista Using HP Data Protector Express Software
Source: Hewlett-Packard (HP)
For years, servers and workstations running Microsoft Windows operating systems have been protected by nightly backup to tape using Microsoft's own NT Backup and later Windows Backup applications. NT Backup and Windows Backup are simple backup and recovery applications that were included for "Free" with Windows operating systems. Now, with the introduction of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, Microsoft has revised the included backup application. A key revision is the ending of the capability to backup to tape, leaving customers only the option to backup to fixed or removable disk. This paper shows how HP Data Protector Express software enables users of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista to continue to backup to tape and brings affordable data protection and recovery options to these users.
