Dell Services Helps Telco Manage Dynamic Regional Growth Using Virtualised Environment Based on Dell Hardware

Faced with rising demand for computing resources from BT Global Services' businesses in some of the world's fastest-growing economies, the Sydney-based information technology team had to consolidate its disparate, ageing infrastructure to a scalable, robust and highly available platform. This platform had to be delivered cost-effectively, fit within tight space constraints and comply with BT's strict environmental ethos. BT Global Services engaged Dell Services to deliver a platform that could meet its needs. Dell Services led a project team that deployed a virtualised environment residing on two Dell PowerEdge 2950 servers with dual quad-core Intel Xeon processors. The physical servers support 16 virtual machines running a range of applications and databases. These applications are supported by a range of Oracle databases.
