Developing The Expert Leader

In this paper, the authors look at leadership through the lens of expertise and relate the findings of a wide range of research on experts, expertise, and expert performance to how they think about leaders and leadership development. This perspective supports some of the current development practices, suggests modifications to others, and identifies some neglected areas. It also provides a potentially unifying framework for understanding how leadership expertise develops and why some practices are more effective than others.
