Development of Digital Train Radio System in Tokyo Metropolitan Area
Source: Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers
Train radio systems for conventional lines have supported safe and stable railway transportation since 1986, and have made it possible for dispatchers and crews to communicate with an independent railway transportation network system. It has been short of call lines due to the increase in train service in the metropolitan area and frequent use in accidents and emergencies. Moreover, improvements on data communication are needed to maintain stable railway transportation services so that new systems can be introduced to provide more information, such as Notice Systems or Train Breakdown Information Transmission Systems.
