Development Strategy of Next Generation Singlechip Smart Inverters for Motor Control Applications
In smart-power IC technologies the trend toward more functional integration is expected to intensify further, producing more compact, efficient, and user-friendly power modules. It looks that in the foreseeable future it will be possible to connect a motor to a controller without specially designed electronics. The paper is focused on the design strategy of next generation single-chip smart inverters for motor control applications. A multifunctional inverter with new configuration is proposed that supports standard motor types such as AC, DC, stepper, or brushless DC, too.
