Digital Dictation Solution Eliminates Backlogs
Source: Voice Technologies
In 2001 the Southern General and Victoria Infirmary Haematology Departments in Glasgow were facing administration backlogs. Reports were not being turned around as quickly as the teams wanted them to be. The service the clinics provided was transformed when Voice Technologies installed a WinScribe system, which was extended again in 2004. During clinics, the clinicians dictate observations using either digital portable recorders or speechmikes. As soon as the consultation is finished, the clinician sends their dictation for immediate transcription. The transcriptions are centrally administered by the WinScribe system, allowing reports to be prioritised and dealt with by whichever hospital team has the most resource available.
