Dutch University Wins Excellence Award for Innovative Software in the Classroom
Avans Hogeschool University of Applied Science (Avans) teaches courses that equip students with the skills necessary to succeed in the world of work. The university puts a high value on "learning by doing," illustrated by its use of business software, which helps the 20,000 Avans university students acquire the skills needed to manage organisations. Until recently, it used complex enterprise resource planning software that was difficult for students to understand. In 2007, it deployed Microsoft Dynamics NAV, taking advantage of the resources that Microsoft makes available to academic institutions. The software is very stable and it is now easier for students to learn the fundamentals of running a business.
