Embedded Controlled Bridgeless PFC Cuk Converter Fed PMBLDC Motor for Mining Application
Digital Simulation and implementation of a bridgeless Power Factor Correction (PFC) Cuk converter based adjustable speed controlled VSI fed PMBLDC motor for mining applications is presented in this paper using low cost embedded controller. The absence of an input diode bridge and the presence of only two semiconductor switches in the current flowing path during each switching cycle results in less conduction losses and improved thermal management compared to the conventional Cuk PFC converters. The proposed topologies are designed to achieve near unity power factor in a simple and effective manner. The proposed speed control scheme has the concept of DC link voltage control proportional to the desired speed of the PMBLDC motor. The speed is regulated by a PI controller.
