Energy efficiency is becoming an important concern in the design of future wireless networks both from environmental and economical point of view. Energy efficient design in cellular networks addresses the concerns of ICT related carbon emissions, and leads to a reduction in the costs of running the network due to the reduction in the energy bill. The main focus of this work is energy efficient transmission in MIMO multi-cell networks. In this paper, the authors consider the problem minimizing the time average energy expenditure subject to time average QoS constraints, in a MIMO multi-cell system.
