EUMETSAT Unifies Intranet, Extranet and Internet and Improves User Uptake

The European Weather Satellite Organization, EUMETSAT, founded in 1986, operates a system of geostationary and polar-orbiting weather satellites monitoring the atmosphere as well as ocean and land surfaces. EUMETSAT wanted to ensure that intranet, extranet, and internet content is up-to-date and streamline the publishing process. The challenge was to increase user uptake of the intranet and improve knowledge transfer within the organization. EUMETSAT implemented Oracle Database Standard Edition and Oracle Universal Content Management on Sun to deploy high-performance, unified intranet, extranet, and intranet applications as well as provided access to business critical applications with Single Sign On via the intranet.
