Evaluation of Migration Scenarios Toward NGN Considering Economic Aspects
Source: Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers
Driven by liberalization, competition, technological advances and evolving market demand, many telecom carriers consider implementing distributed network architecture, with a common, packet-based transport layer for voice and data. NGN holds the promise of offering a range of new data and multimedia services, giving the carrier to access new revenues. In migration scenarios different aspects are considered. Two most important aspects are economic and regulatory problems. In economic aspects, telcos are forced to consider how to migrate consumers to a multimedia NGN whilst keeping a positive cash flow.
