FIP Over Ethernet/IP for Real Time Distributed Systems Implementation
This paper presents the realization of a platform for testing and validating distributed real time systems (DRTS), by following a methodology of development. The main contribution remains the realization of an industrial communication bus (FIP: Factory Instrumentation Protocol) implemented on an Ethernet platform. The work focuses on improving the response time of the bus. For that, the paper uses a deterministic implementation of FIP's services (variables identification, transmission functions, by exploiting the TCP/IP stack. The periodic communications are monitored by real time periodic threads run on RTAI kernel.
